Each year, it’s the same story. We wake up the day after Christmas and realize just how much of Grandma’s sweet potato pie and late night sandwiches of leftovers we really ate and decide it’s time to get back on the bandwagon. So, giving ourselves a couple days–need to eat up that ham–we choose New Year’s Day as a new beginning.
“I am going to pay off all the credit cards by April and lose 20 pounds.” Or some such. And, some charge ahead and get it done. And, according to some studies, the success rate can be rather high. But we all know taking on too much is a surefire way of underwriting failure, rather than success. For example, we are reminded every year, more profoundly during the holidays, of those less fortunate than ourselves…the television will always have images of families who have no where to go on Christmas Eve, a shot of a local soup kitchen, or a group of people handing out gifts to the children.
And we think to ourselves, “next year, I really want to be involved in that.”
Well, how about right now. Today. You can be involved year round. By clicking the button below, you involve yourself in Haven of Hope City Within a City and all of the work they do in the community. All donations go directly to the operations and donation pool that keeps HOHCWC running year round. While we do a large amount of visible activity during the holidays, the programs we have run year round and require constant tending.
Won’t you join us in our year-round work in the community?
